Story Coaching offers focused support while you’re actively drafting or revising. It’s a space to talk through story questions, untangle what isn’t working, and decide what to do next — without having to figure it out alone.
Support can take place either through written coaching or a live voice call, depending on what helps you think most clearly.
What this is
You bring specific questions, uncertainties, or short excerpts (up to 5k) from your work in progress. I review and respond with clear, thoughtful guidance to help you understand what’s happening in your story and how to move forward
This is collaborative, big-picture support designed to help you make confident decisions — not a line-by-line edit or a directive telling you what to write.
Story Coaching doesn’t require a problem to solve or a section to fix. Some sessions are deeply practical; others are about talking through uncertainty, motivation, emotional blocks, or story doubts that don’t yet have a clear shape. We work with whatever feels most present that week.
What this isn’t
Story Coaching is not a full manuscript edit, unlimited feedback, or a one-off critique. If you’re looking for comprehensive, big-picture feedback on a completed draft, Manuscript Development will be a better fit. For one-off support on a specific issue, Story Diagnostic is a better option.
Ongoing, supportive guidance for writers who don’t want to write alone.
FAQs
What does a Story Coaching check-in actually include?
A: Each check-in is a structured, written coaching exchange. You’ll send a brief update, 1–3 specific questions or challenges, and (optionally) a short excerpt or selected pages. I’ll respond with focused written guidance to help you clarify what’s working, untangle what isn’t, and decide what to do next. Can you read my full manuscript as part of Story Coaching?
A: No. Story Coaching does not include full manuscript reads. I’m happy to look at short excerpts or selected scenes when they’re relevant to your questions, but this service is about supporting you as you write, not reviewing a finished draft. If you’re looking for big-picture feedback on a complete manuscript, Manuscript Development would be a better fit.Is this editing or developmental feedback?
A: Story Coaching is coaching, not editing. I focus on big-picture thinking — structure, character, clarity, decision-making, momentum, and confidence — rather than line edits or polish. You’ll leave each check-in with new knowledge and clearer direction, not marked-up pages. How do we choose the right check-in rhythm?
A: You can indicate a preferred rhythm when you inquire, and we’ll choose what best supports your energy, goals, and capacity. You’re not locked into one pace forever — rhythms can shift as your needs change. Is Story Coaching right for me if I feel stuck or unsure?
A: Absolutely. You don’t need to have clear goals or answers before reaching out. Many writers come to Story Coaching precisely because they feel stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed. We start exactly where you are.

How check-ins work
Before each session or check-in, you’ll send a brief overview of where you’re stuck and a few focused questions or decisions you’d like help with.
Support is provided either:
as a 45–60 minute voice call, or
as 45-60 minute live chat written coaching, if that format suits you better.
Both options are designed to offer the same level of clarity and depth.
Each session includes advance review of up to 5,000 words. This allows us to focus the session on clarity and decision-making rather than first impressions.
Check-in rhythm options
Weekly — $720 / month
Four structured check-ins for writers who want close support and steady momentum.
Bi-weekly — $370 / month
Two structured check-ins with space to work between reflections.
Monthly — $195 / month
One structured check-in for writers who want a calm touchpoint without pressure.
We’ll choose the rhythm that best supports your energy, goals, and capacity. Story Coaching runs month by month — you’re never locked in, and we reassess as we go.
Because this is ongoing, personalised work, I take on a limited number of Story Coaching clients at a time. New clients are welcomed as space opens.
If you’re unsure whether this is the right fit, share a little about where you are in your writing and what kind of support you’re looking for. I read every inquiry personally and will guide you with care.
