What this is

Story Coaching is written-based support while you’re actively drafting or revising. You bring your questions, uncertainties, or short excerpts, and I respond with focused guidance to help you untangle what isn’t working and decide what to do next.

Instead of focusing on a finished draft, this service supports you inside the process — helping you work through questions, decisions, and uncertainty as they arise, so you can keep moving forward with clarity and confidence.

This is supportive, big-picture coaching to help you stay connected to your story without pressure or overwhelm. The goal isn’t to tell you what to write — it’s to help you understand why certain choices work, so you can trust yourself as you write.

How check-ins work

Before each check-in, you’ll send a brief update on what you’ve been working on, one to three specific questions or decisions you want support with, and — if helpful — a short excerpt or selected pages.

I’ll respond with written guidance designed to help you see what isn’t working, clarify your next steps, and make confident decisions about how to move forward.

What this isn’t

Story Coaching is not a full manuscript edit, unlimited feedback, or a one-off critique. If you’re looking for comprehensive, big-picture feedback on a completed draft, Manuscript Development will be a better fit. For one-off support on a specific issue, Story Diagnostic is a better option.

Ongoing, supportive guidance for writers who don’t want to write alone.

FAQs

  • What does a Story Coaching check-in actually include?
A: Each check-in is a structured, written coaching exchange. You’ll send a brief update, 1–3 specific questions or challenges, and (optionally) a short excerpt or selected pages. I’ll respond with focused written guidance to help you clarify what’s working, untangle what isn’t, and decide what to do next.

  • Can you read my full manuscript as part of Story Coaching?
A: No. Story Coaching does not include full manuscript reads. I’m happy to look at short excerpts or selected scenes when they’re relevant to your questions, but this service is about supporting you as you write, not reviewing a finished draft. If you’re looking for big-picture feedback on a complete manuscript, Manuscript Development would be a better fit.

  • Is this editing or developmental feedback?
A: Story Coaching is coaching, not editing. I focus on big-picture thinking — structure, character, clarity, decision-making, momentum, and confidence — rather than line edits or polish. You’ll leave each check-in with new knowledge and clearer direction, not marked-up pages.

  • How do we choose the right check-in rhythm?
A: You can indicate a preferred rhythm when you inquire, and we’ll choose what best supports your energy, goals, and capacity. You’re not locked into one pace forever — rhythms can shift as your needs change.

  • Is Story Coaching right for me if I feel stuck or unsure?
A: Absolutely. You don’t need to have clear goals or answers before reaching out. Many writers come to Story Coaching precisely because they feel stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed. We start exactly where you are.
