Manuscript Feedback

A manuscript critique is designed to help you step back and see your story as a whole before moving into deeper editing or revision.
When you book this service, I read your manuscript carefully from both a reader’s perspective and an editor’s perspective, paying attention to how the story unfolds emotionally and structurally on the page.
Instead of marking up the manuscript itself, you’ll receive a detailed editorial letter that examines the larger patterns shaping your story.
This allows us to focus on the foundational elements that make a romance or romantasy novel satisfying for readers, including:
• story structure and narrative momentum
• pacing and tension
• character arcs and relationship development
• emotional beats and payoff
• clarity of stakes, goals, and conflict
The goal of a manuscript critique is clarity and direction. Rather than working line-by-line through the manuscript, I focus on identifying the strengths already present in your story and the areas where revision could have the greatest impact.
Your editorial letter will highlight:
• what is already working well in the manuscript
• structural or pacing issues affecting the story’s momentum
• areas where character development or emotional logic could deepen
• moments where tension, stakes, or clarity may be weakened
• practical revision priorities to guide your next draft
Think of this service as a high-level roadmap for revision. It helps you understand where the story is landing effectively for readers and where further development may strengthen the manuscript before deeper editing.
After delivery, you’ll have a 14-day asynchronous support window where you can send follow-up questions by email. This space is meant to help clarify the feedback and support you as you begin revision.
It does not include additional editing or ongoing revision coaching, though those services are available separately if you’d like deeper support.
This service is best suited for complete or near-complete manuscripts that need big-picture guidance before moving into a full developmental edit.
If you’re submitting only part of a manuscript, including a short synopsis is helpful so the feedback can consider the broader direction of the story.
